West Gate Elementary Student Is Recovering From Swine Flu

A student at a Prince William County elementary school has swine flu and is recovering at home, school officials said.

Officials said Tuesday night that the West Gate Elementary School student will not return to class until cleared by a doctor.

In the meantime, system officials said, they are in contact with health officials and are taking all appropriate measures to ensure the health of students and staff members.

Parents were asked to monitor their children closely.

School officials said they would follow the situation closely to determine whether additional steps are needed.

School officials said they were notified Tuesday evening that the student’s illness had been confirmed as swine flu.
