Angelina County has its second confirmed case of swine flu, a boy under the age of 2, according to the Angelina County and Cities Health District.

Two children, one in Angelina County and one in Polk County, were confirmed to have the illness on June 17 and 12. The child in Polk County is a boy under age 10. Both children have fully recovered.

All Centers for Disease Control and Texas Department of State Health Services treatment guidelines and isolation precautions were followed, according to a press release from Sharon Shaw, AC&CHD administrator.

The district is keeping an eye out for more cases should they happen.

“The Health District is still working with area physicians and hospitals to collect lab specimens from highly suspected flu-like cases,” Shaw stated.

In May, a Lufkin High School student was the first suspected case reported in Angelina County. The school district disinfected the facility overnight and monitored other students for symptoms. The student has also recovered fully.
